Welcome! ♥

Hi everyone!

My blog has moved from missfashionista09.blogspot.co.uk to this current blog, which I think has a much more sophisticated url. I created my previous blog around seven years ago, hence the ridiculous url...it really annoyed me every time I did a blog post. I think there were also a lot of blog posts from years ago that I really wasn't happy with and didn't reflect my blog and where it is currently. So, welcome to Miss Sophie Olivia...again. Please re follow on Google + etc. Please remain following me on Blog Lovin', as I will simply be changing the URL.
Please do get in contact with me because I love to natter.
You can find me on Twitter and Blog Lovin' , and please don't hesitate to send me an email-
misssophieolivia@hotmail.co.uk

I want this blog to be new and fresh, however there were some posts which I did and particularly liked, so they have also followed me to this new blog.

Thanks everyone!

L'oreal Caresse Lipstick review ♥

I'm in love with L'oreal Caresse Lipsticks. I have such dry lips at times, and these lipsticks glide on, and keep my lips moisturised all day. They've been compared to Revlon Lip butters, but I can't say I'm a massive fan of them- they seem so sticky, and I found it was a nightmare when it was windy as my hair would get stuck to my lips! The L'oreal Caresse lipsticks are far better. They're silky and smooth, but don't feel too sticky. I love the colour range, but my favourites have to be 01 Fasionista Pink and 03 Lovely Rose.
L'oreal describe the lipstick, Don't just stroke your lips, Caresse them. Lips say yes to this Caresse. A flutter of kissably soft light-weight feeling colour. Its delicate texture glides onto lips creating a veil of colour with a lumious shine. They are so soft, and the colour translates really well onto the lips. The 01 Fashionista Pink does take a few applications to get the desired colour, but it looks lovely- really pink and dewy. My favourite is the 03 Lovely Rose however. It's such a gorgeous pink, and looks really pretty and natural. They're so easy to apply, and simply glide on. The shape of the lipstick also makes application a little easier, as you can really create fuller looking lips. The only con is the staying power of the lipsticks. The lovely soft texture of the lipstick melts into the lips, so I have to reapply after around an hour.
I love the packaging too. I think it looks very classy and expensive, and something you'd notice somebody using. It was the packaging that first drew me to the product. The lipstick retails at £7.99, and is worth every penny! It's perfect if you want to try a more daring colour- the colours look glossy and polished, and not too overwhelming.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place powder review ♥

Recently, my love for Estee Lauder products has been massive- I just can't get enough! I recenty bought their Double Wear Stay-in-place powder make up, and am really impressed! I bought it in the shade Fresco 01 as I have a pale-medium complexion.
I've been using this everyday for the last month, and I'm so impressed. Although I don't use the product with Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation (I use Dior Forever), I've found that it really does last all day. Although I've heard amazing thngs about Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation, I found it was too cakey, and my skin looked very made up. I was worried this would have the same effect, but it's more than impressed! It looks lovely on my skin- really natural, and not too cakey.
The compact has a sponge applictaor under the powder (the sponge looks really dirty in this photo, but I swear it's the lighting!) , but I've found that I much prefer to use a powder brush to apply it, as this makes the powder look much more natural. The sponge has been really great when I've had some horrible blemishes, as I've found that it helps to hide them much better.
Although the powder is highly priced at £25.00 (13g) I've used this product continuousy for the last month and it looks hardly touched. I would definitely recommend this product if you want to treat yourself to an expensive powder as you won't be dissapointed.

Top 5 Summer Nail Varnishes ♥

Summer is finally here it seems! The sun is shining, my sunnies are on, and for once I can leave the house without wearing thick tights! My make up always reflects the seasons, particularly my lip sticks and nail varnishes. My nail varnishes in the summer are always in candy colours or soft pinks.
These are my top 5 nail varnishes for this Summer.....
From left: Ciate Piant pot in Purple Sherbet, Rimmel I love Fruities 025  Strawberry Fizz, 17 Supreme Shine in Simply Pink,Rimmel Pro in 500 Peppermint and Rimmel 60 Seconds 405 Rose Libertine.
My current favourite summer nail varnish- Rimmel Pro in 500 Peppermint.

1. Rimmel Pro in 500 Peppermint- I love this nail varnish. It is such a gorgeous colour and perfect shade for Summer. It doesn't chip either, which is a massive bonus. There's nothing more I hate then having the perfect nails and then them chipping straight away. The only negative is that the varnish is quite watery, therefore it takes around three coats for the varnish to have such a "popping" colour. It dries quickly though, so this isn't such a problem.

2. Rimmel 60 Seconds 405 Rose Libertine- Such a beautiful colour. I'm a massive fan of Rimmel nail varnishes. I think the quality is amazing, and I'm so impressed with the finish of my nails when I use them. This nail varnish dries so quickly, applies beautifully and just looks stunning. A real pretty, Summer pink.

3. 17 Supreme Shine Simply Pink- This shade looks even more amazing on the nails then in the bottle. I actually picked this shade after I saw my flat mates nails. They looked so pretty, neat and pearly that I just had to know what she had on her nails. I wasn't disappointed...the shade is gorgeous and so pretty when it hits the sun. I love 17 products- Good quality and great prices.

4. Ciate Paint Pots in Purple Sherbet- This was a magazine freebie and there were three shades to choose form, however I just thought this was the perfect Summer shade. The only thing I dislike about Ciate products is that they chip so easily. I always think the finish looks amazing and really professional, but my nails literally chip within an hour. It's a shame because I love this colour so much. It's the perfect on trend candy colour.

5. Rimmel I Love Fruities 025 Strawberry Fizz- This polish looks as gorgeous as it smells. I love these scented Rimmel nail varnishes. Not only is the shade the most gorgeous, eye catching pink, but it smells so sweet and sugary like cherries.

What's your favourite colour from the selection?

Topshop Sunbeam Highlighter Review ♥

I've been after a good highlighter for a while, and spotted Topshop's Sunbeam and thought it was so pretty! I have to say that after using it a few times, I'm a little disappointed. It looks so beautiful and shimmery in the pot, but this just doesn't translate when applied to the skin.
I love the packaging for Topshop's make up range- it's simple but really quirky and unique. It's a shame because I had high hopes for the highlighter, but it's so gold when applied to the skin that it's really difficult to blend.
When I swatched the product in store, it looked so beautiful in the store lighting. In natural lighting however, it's unbelievably gold. The purpose of highlighters is to apply them where the light catches your face- I like to apply mine to the cheekbones and eyebrow bone. However I feel that when using the highlighter, it doesn't highlight these areas, but makes them look rather scary! It's very hard to blend, and I feel like I'm left with big patches of gold on my face.

WITHOUT FLASH
As you can see, the colour is beautiful but definitely not ideal as a highlighter. I'm unsure what to do with the product, and as it was £10.00, I feel that I need to get some use out of it. I may try and use it as an eye shadow for a night out, or perhaps try applying it lightly to my shoulders and collarbone for a night out.

Premier Model Skin Review ♥

I don't think you need to spend lots of money on your skin to keep it looking good, but there are some pricey products out there that it's worth spending extra money on. I recently purchased some facial products from Premier Model Skin. This brand has been produced by Monu, who I absolutely love. I've tried Monu products as they have been part of my Glossybox, and thought they were lovely on my skin.
Both products retail around £26.00, however I found them in TKmaxx for £4.99 (bargain). I had high expectations of the products, and judged them on their original price tag should I want to purchase them again in the future. Firstly, I love the packaging. It's bright, but sleek and sophisticated. I feel it looks and feels expensive, and definitely not something I would have found in TKmaxx.
I've been using both the facial scrub and toner for the last five days, and am so impressed. My skin looks so smooth and soft, and I actually feel that my complexion has improved. My skin looks clear and bright, and my pores are definitely smaller. The scrub reminds me of an exfoliator- it's quite gritty, but doesn't irritate the skin. I have quite sensitive skin, so I prefer not to use products that are so gritty, but I really haven't had any problems with this product.
The toner has a watery appearance, but is actually quite thick and gloopy when applied to the skin. I really like this however, and it feels lovely when on my skin. The unusual thing about this toner, is that the directions requite you to use your hands to massage the toner into your skin. I find this a little strange, as most toners usually require a cotton pad to remove all traces of remaining make up. I do feel that my skin is still left feeling cool, clean and refreshed however.
I've loved using these products- I can't say I'd want/ afford to use these products if I had to pay £26.99, but I definitely can see huge improvements to my skin. I do feel that the products are high quaility- they smell amazing, and have great results. I think I'll be popping back to TKmaxx to stock up asap!

Essie in 472 Review ♥

This is the first Essie product that I've purchased. I had high expectations, as I know Essie is very popular with many beauty beauty bloggers. Again, I went to TKmaxx and purchased an Essie polish is a gorgeous cherry red.
Well, I definitely understand why Essie is so popular. It applies really well, and dries fairly quick. It's quite thick, which means it only took two coats to get the desired colour. The colour is so pretty- a dark cherry/ raspberry, and a perfect Autumn and Winter shade. The polish looks expensive, as it has a gorgeous, shiny finish.
The polish lasted a good three days before it started to chip, and around five days before the chips were more noticeable. I had done a lot of house work in these days, so I actually think it lasted for a good amount of time.
I'm looking forward to trying Essie products again. Although this polish was a lot cheaper as I purchased it from TKmaxx, I'd definitely be happy to purchase it again full price.

Nina by Nina Ricci Review ♥

When I was on holiday, I purchased Nina by Nina Ricci at the duty free. I'd actually never smelt the perfume before, although had seen the bottle whilst browsing perfume counters. I decided to have a small spritz of it however, and thought it was so lovely.
I'd say it has a floral scent, but it's slightly sweet too. It's not too overpowering though, and has just the perfect amount of sweetness. I purchased the toilette, and I've been really impressed. I usually try to purchase the perfume as I find toilette's just don't last as long, but I've had no problems. Today I sprayed it on in the morning, and two hours later I could still really smell it.

I also think the bottle is quite pretty. It looks like an apple, and is simple and sophisticated. I find it pops perfectly into my handbag too, which is always a bonus.
The perfume is currently on offer at Boots for £38.00 with a body lotion- HERE

Dr Jart + Water Fuse BB Cream review ♥

In a recent Glossybox, I'd received the Dr Jart + BB cream. I'd never heard of the product or brand but was excited to try it. I've never been a massive fan of BB creams to be honest. I don't think the coverage is that great, and I definitely like a thicker consistency. I only happened to try this product because I'd misplaced my foundation...and so glad I did!
I have to say, I am so impressed! The consistency is quite watery, as most BB creams are, but it applies to the skin beautifully. It makes my skin tone even and dewy looking, and manages to cover any dark circles or blemishes. My skin feels moisturised and soft and has a lovely healthy appearance. What I think is an added bonus is that the product has an SPF 25. Most high end foundations have an SPF 15, so I think this is quite impressive...we all know the damage that sun rays can do to our skin.
If there are any negatives to this product, it is that after a few hours my skin appears a little shiny. I naturally have oily skin, therefore I use a powder to set my make up. I didn't want to use a powder with this product as it has such a lovely finish and sets so well on the skin. I do find that after a few hours I have to pat a little powder onto my skin though. I don't think this is a problem if your skin isn't so oily.
It blends really beautifully, and I think this may become a staple beauty product of mine in 2013. I think the brand is becoming very popular, as more people discover how amazing their products are.

The product retails for £18.00 for 50ml, and can be purchased from the Boots website.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

Benefit Sippin' n Dippin' review ♥

I love Benefit shadows, and Sippin n' Dippin Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner is a particular favourite. I'd describe it as a pearly, gold, nude colour...if that makes sense!
Benefit say the product is smudge and crease proof, and is perfect for buildable colour and shadowing. I have to say I'm really impressed with this product, as it seems to do exactly what it says. The consistency is smooth, yet feels slightly thick. It blends beautifully and is really easy to build up more and more colour. I like to apply two coatings of the cream to my eyes as it has a lovely sheer/nude appearance.
The staying power is amazing. Although it's easy to apply and blend, after thirty seconds of leaving it to settle, it dries really well and doesn't seem to smudge at all. I'm usually a little funny with using cream eye shadows as I find they don't stay put, but I don't seem to have that problem with this product. I do find however, after a good six hours of wear, little creases begin to appear on my eye lid- but this has also been after a long day at work, and still don't seem so noticeable.
It was really difficult to capture the product on camera, as it is such a sheer, golden shade. It really does look beautiful though, especially when caught in the light. The product did retail at £14.00 for 4.5g, however it has now been reduced to £7.00...bargain! You can buy the product from the Benefit website, found HERE
